GOTHIC CLOISTER
A Gothic cloister located between the cathedral and the church of Notre-Dame-de-Galilée, featuring surprising gargoyles.
The Gothic cloister is located between the cathedral and the church of Notre-Dame-de-Galilée. Its origin is very old, in Romanesque style and, in a pitiful state in 1444, it was rebuilt by volunteers who could thus benefit from plenary indulgences. It was unfortunately burnt down in 1554, and then restored in Gothic style in the 15th and 16th centuries, but remained unfinished. There are some surprising gargoyles, some of which evoke the American continent. One of them, probably from the 16th century, wearing a feather fan, is called the Iroquois.
