Here's a list of sites that allow you to travel even if you don't have a car, at lower cost and in (good) company. Be careful, though.
If you want to stay in France, the itinerary is as follows: from Lille, take the A1 towards Reims. From here, take the A4 towards Metz, and follow the same directions as from Paris.
- But there's another, less costly solution, because it's completely free and just as quick in terms of time and distance, and that's to go via Belgium and Luxembourg. We're Europeans, so let's make the most of it. To do this, head for Valenciennes, Brussels, Paris, Roubaix, Tourcoing, Gent on the A1. Then head for Ronchin, Brussels, Tournai and join the A22. At Villeneuve-d'Ascq, join the A27, which will take you into Belgian territory for a few kilometers. Then take the A8. At Tournai, follow signs for Mons, Valenciennes. Take the A7 to La Louvière, then the A15 to La Louvière, and the A4 to Namur. At Neufchâteau, you enter Luxembourg territory. Follow the A6 towards Thionville: you're back in French territory.
