THE ROAD OF THE CRESTS
The road from Xonrupt-Longemer to most of the Vosges peaks
Built during the First World War to facilitate travel between the northern and southern fronts, this road crosses most of the Vosges peaks. Today, its appeal lies in its exceptional panoramic views. You'll stroll along wind-exposed ridges. Heading south, the road leads to the Hohneck, offering magnificent views of the Vosges, the Donon and even the Black Forest. It then follows ledges to Markstein and the Grand Ballon de Guebwiller, the highest peak in the Vosges at 1,424 meters.
