COW CAVE
Cave in the Vicdessos valley at Alliat, one of the most important prehistoric sites in the Pyrenees
Reopened in 2024, Grotte de la Vache, the little sister of Grotte de Niaux, is located in the Vicdessos valley. Excavated in 1866 by Dr. Félix Garrigou, it is one of the most important prehistoric sites in the Pyrenees. Excavations have unearthed animal bones and teeth, carved flints, assegais, reindeer antler harpoons, needles and pieces engraved or sculpted with animal motifs. Around a hundred works are on display in the Monique Room. A concretion reminiscent of a bovid gave the cave its name.

Lors de cette visite nous apprenons comment les hommes et les femmes de cette époque vivaient tout au long de l'année (leur façon de se nourrir, de s'habiller, de vivre en communauté, .....)
Super intéressant !
