SNAIL FARMING
At the foot of the Pyrenees, in a green bowl of Couserans, Marc and Catherine raise snails in eleven outdoor parks. These nasty snails feed on clubs, radish and cereals, no wonder they are so tasty on the plate. The mini-grey and the large-grey are then offered to be lively or prepared and cooked on site at an approved workshop. However, breeding is not limited to gastronomy since this small, shell-to-shell beast is "celebrated" in documents, film, figurines, various objects and even in a craft of art. You will even see a collection, unique in Europe, of earth snails from around the world. It is a real museum of three halls that is dedicated to this hermaphroditic, with two stands "Draw me a snail" and "Race of Snails". It is also a farm that hosts many classes from primary school to high school. They were not mad the Romans because it was their time when the snails were farmed for culinary purposes. This original and enriching visit is a pure treat. Get out of your shell and go to Barjac!
