ST. PETER'S CHAPEL
Chapel, vestige of a castle settlement, with wall paintings, acoustic holes and gothic fresco
It is from the name of its castle that Castillon, a terraced village with its old houses and pedestrian streets lined with dry stone walls, takes its name. It was the site of a fortified castle and its ramparts. Today, only the castle chapel and some sections of the surrounding wall remain. Inside: wall paintings of the XIIIth century with rare iconography, acoustic holes and gothic fresco of the Hanged Man attesting to the Pyrenean Piedmont as a pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.
