Church founded in the IXth century in Foix which has kept its crypt, the base of the south wall of the nave and its beautiful portal
Work has been undertaken to remove the plaster and redo the paving, which has enabled the crypt of the original church to be rediscovered. Volusian, bishop of Tours, exiled by the Visigoths in Ariège, became the patron saint of Foix. Founded in the 9th century, the abbey acquired a vast domain from the Ariège valley to Ax. Destroyed in 1580, a Gothic church was built in the 17th century. From the medieval period, it keeps its crypt, the base of the south wall of the nave and a beautiful portal. Inside, the beautiful 17th century stalls come from St-Sernin in Toulouse.
