Farm located at the exit of La Bastide-de-Sérou, home to over 70 species from all continents
More than 200 reptiles are waiting for you in this original and unique place in Ariège. At the exit of La Bastide-de-Sérou, in the direction of Saint-Girons, towards Allières, Pierre practices in this farm, opened since 1995, the breeding and the exhibition of reptiles. From the dwarf boa to the caiman and the snapping turtle, you will discover more than 70 species from all continents. The particularity of the place is to propose guided visits, during which you will understand better the way of life of the reptiles, you will attend the various handling and demonstrations like the meals of the aquatic snakes. The most courageous can even put a boa or a python around their neck. A park of 600 m² freely presents giant Aldabra tortoises, African tortoises and Mediterranean and Asian tortoises. Ponds welcome aquatic turtles and notably the European cistude. An outdoor area is dedicated to lizards: iguanas, tegus, monitor lizards. In the hall, the last improvements of the place concern the reception of the Mata-Mata leaf turtle, the vivarium of the caimans and the vivariums of the venomous of which the fascinating green mamba. Welcome of the young people as day caretakers with the maintenance team. They participate in the care and feeding of the exhibition, the breeding rooms and the nursery. They handle various reptiles with a caretaker. The day ends with a certificate of training and the presentation of photos of the day. You must bring a picnic for the meal with the caretakers.
