Cave with huge cavities and prehistoric remains, visit the interpretation center and museum at Mas-d'Azil

Geological curiosity and giant of Prehistory this cave takes you in its magic by the immensity of the cavities, the modern lighting and the prehistoric vestiges which it conceals. Your visit is divided into three parts: the interpretation centre to discover the life of the first men who occupied the site, the guided tour to relive the archaeologists' excavations and, 1.5 km away, the museum with a collection of prehistoric objects from the cave.

By visiting Ariège, we wanted to discover the prehistory to our small children by visiting several sites in the region. This is the most amazing of the beauty of the site. It's seen in the cave, crossed by some kind of river, reproductions of paintings and engravings, objects carved by our prehistoric ancestors or still bones of animals from the glacial era (mammoths, rhinoceros, bears). The visit complements that of the museum holding with the same banknote. entry, reasonable.
