MUSEUM AND CONCENTRATION CAMP OF VERNET D'ARIÈGE
The Camp Memorial at Le Vernet, transformed into a repressive internment camp, located halfway between Pamiers and Saverdun
The Vernet-d'Ariège Internment Camp Memorial recalls the existence of a concentration camp for Spanish refugees from February to September 1939, transformed into a repressive internment camp and from 1942 into a deportation camp for Jews. The camp buildings no longer exist, only the castle and the posts marking the camp entrance, as well as the guards' barracks. The camp is located halfway between Pamiers and Saverdun, and is open to visitors all year round.
