Museum of Montsegur with medieval pieces, testifying to archaeological research, found on the site
In 1965, what was then only a deposit of excavations became the museum of Montségur thanks to the members of the Speleological Society of Ariège. It presents, on two floors, pieces, mostly medieval, dating mainly from the 13th and 14th centuries. The archaeological witnesses found during research on the site, more precisely on the village surrounding the keep, illustrate the activities of the rural community living at that time in the civil and military fields. La maquette du site à son apogée est très bien faite et les vidéos qui reconstituent le chateau et son village sont impressionnantes. je n'avais pas l'impression lorsque j'étais en haut du château que autant de constructions, de maisons et d'activités avaient été présentes sur ce pic! On comprend mieux l'histoire de la région, et le destin tragique de ces habitants.
Le prix comprenant le musée et le château est très peu élevé.
