The Castella plateau, where Gabriel Fauré was born and where the castle of Pamiers was built.
At the foot of the climb that will take you to the Castella plateau, you will see on your right the stele of Gabriel Fauré, created by the Appamée sculptor Méric in 1927. Gabriel Fauré was an internationally renowned composer and musician, born in Pamiers on 12 May 1845. His birth house can be seen at n° 17 of the rue Gabriel-Péri. On the Castella plateau, in the Middle Ages, the castle of Pamiers was built, which gave its name to the town. From here you have a beautiful panoramic view of the city and the Pyrenees.
