A beautiful park of Ariège to discover the daily life of the Magdalenians in an environment of giant animals, workshops proposed.

Go to one of the most beautiful sites in the Ariège to discover the daily life of the Magdalenians in an environment of giant animals, bison, mammoths or megaceros, a kind of deer of prehistoric size. Compare the tusks of mammoths with the horn of woolly rhinoceroses, arm wrestle with bison, measure yourself against the speed of a cave lion. Immersive activities and workshops, open to all, are organised every day, allowing you to immerse yourself in prehistory: the archaeological excavation workshop, the cave art workshop: in prehistoric light conditions, test your prehistoric painting skills, or try your hand at hunting with the handling of the propeller. In a reconstructed camp that changes with the seasons, you will attend demonstrations of flint knapping and fire lighting using the Cro-Magnon method. Many other activities await you, including the sound maze, the hunting panorama and the trail of tracks. In terms of events, there is a mammoth egg hunt at the end of March (the eggs are made of chocolate, of course) and, in June, the Night of Prehistory and the National Archaeology Days. Around the lakes, a restaurant, a shop and a picnic area are also at your disposal. Much more than a simple amusement park, you will discover a (pre) history, an environment through an interactive museum where culture and nature evoke the mystery of origins.

It's more an amusement park than a museum, but it's interesting for children who can start it through workshops on wall painting, the size of flint or lighting a fire. There are also approximate reproductions of mammoths, bison or lions. The ideal is to choose a family pass (2 adults and 2 children), less expensive.
