This unique, listed site, with its incomparable historical and geological significance, is recognized as the largest cave in Europe. A shelter, a burial ground for prehistoric man, a sacred Cathar site, a Protestant refuge, a brigands' hideout, a mystical place... the Lombrives cave has had a thousand and one faces, fascinating mankind from time immemorial. Thousands of signatures, enigmatic symbols and age-old legends have left their mark. These include the signature of the future King Henri IV, and the tomb of Princess Pyrenaus, which, according to the ancient Greeks, marks the genesis of the creation of the Pyrenees. The site's underground network is immense: it's not just one natural cave, but several caves that can be explored through a series of rooms, each as different as they are remarkable. Each new twist and turn is awe-inspiring. In the exceptional Galerie de la Carène, you can plunge into a seismic fault and admire its extraordinary aesthetics. La Cathédrale is a hall with a ceiling height of over 80 meters, and exceptional acoustics. Concerts are held here all year round. The cathedral is also home to a number of beautiful concretions, including the Mammoth and the Witch. Located between Foix and Andorra, the Lombrives cave offers a wide range of activities, including guided hikes, speleological tours, children's workshops, aperitif concerts and much more.
