Standing for a thousand years on its volcanic peak, the castle dominates Espalion and the Lot valley, and offers an exceptional panorama from the Causses to the Aubrac. Having undergone no transformation, it bears witness to the conditions of military life in the Middle Ages. Today, "knights" retrace the attack and defence of a fortress during the Hundred Years War. Visitors can discover the art of warfare in the Middle Ages, thanks to animations including archery demonstrations, archery initiations for children and creative workshops.

Opening time and information on CALMONT-D'OLT CASTLE

Open from Easter weekend to the end of the All Saints' vacation. High season: open every day from 10am to 7pm. Low season: open Friday to Wednesday (2pm to 6pm). Adults: €9.50. Children: €7.50. 6 adults and €5 children in low season.

Visité début octobre, très sympa. En cours de reconstruction par une association, accueil très attentionné et à l'écoute, nous a également conseillé d'autres visites. On peut monter en haut de la plus haute tour, qui offre un point de vue exceptionnel sur les alentours. Petit film explicatif très bien fait et pas trop long à faire avant de visiter.
