A symbol of Larzac and one of the highest sentinels of the Aveyron, the tower of Viala du Pas de Jaux.
It is a symbol of Larzac and one of the highest sentinels of Aveyron. Built in 1429, the tower of Viala-du-Pas-de-Jaux has remarkably survived through the ages thanks to successive restorations. Today, it opens its doors and unfolds its many floors to visitors on the occasion of free or audio-guided visits. In summer, animations for children are proposed. The first floor is also home to a store selling gourmet products.

La torre Viala-du-Pas-de-Jaux forma part d'un conjunt de 5 emplaçaments (Sainte Eulalie, La Couvertoirade, La Cavalerie, Saint-Jean d'Alcas) inclosos en un programa de millora del Larzac Templier Hospitalier.
Originàriament, Le Viala era només una masia. El seu destí va canviar cap a mitjans del segle XII quan va ser donat als templers. Els cavallers de Sainte-Eulalie-de-Cernon hi van construir una motte per protegir la finca. Quan els hospitalers van prendre possessió de la propietat del Temple després de l'any 1312, van decidir crear un poble en aquest lloc i per fer-ho van construir els edificis d'una granja. L'any 1315 els hi van aixecar la casa dels cavallers i van construir una església dedicada a sant Joan Baptista, patró dels hospitalers. Aleshores, cap a l'any 1430, els hospitalers hi van construir una torre quadrada que, des del 1982, una associació de salvaguarda intenta restaurar.
