JASMINE PLACE
The old fortified gate has been converted into a semi-circular square with shops and restaurants, which has been beautifully renovated.
Formerly a fortified gateway, it was transformed by the architect Lornet into a semicircular square like the royal squares of Bordeaux. In 1870, the statue of the Agenese poet of the same name, who lived at n° 35 of the avenue Général de Gaulle, was installed in the center. With his hand raised, you can almost hear him declaiming his verses! The square, which is the entrance to the city center and is extended by the Boulevard de la République, was superbly restored in 2022. An elegant and spacious agora, it highlights the shops and restaurants with terraces that line it.
