BEACH HOUSE
Château d'Esplas, located in Rebourguil, is a fortified castle dating back to the 13th century. It consists of a square enclosure with three circular towers and a square tower. Three of the four sides are occupied by residential buildings. The original building consists of the square tower and adjacent dwelling, which probably date back to the founding of the seigneury in 1261. The other buildings date from the 15th or 16th century. During the Hundred Years' War, the castle was besieged by the English and the fortifications were reinforced. The tower was isolated from the dwelling to better ensure its defense. After the war, the château became a pleasure residence, as evidenced by the numerous windows cut into the walls and towers. The château was restored in 2000, with priority given to preserving the building and restoring the oldest parts.
