Lacaune, the emblematic ewe of the Roquefort area, is the queen of this festival, which combines a gourmet hike with a flock parade through the town.
For more than 25 years, Réquista has been celebrating the ewe, and more particularly the Lacaune, which produces the milk used to make Roquefort cheese. This is an opportunity to bring together the general public around a programme that focuses on the local area. The "ronde de la brebis" is a gourmet walk, punctuated by several tastings (spit-roasted cake, sausage, wine, Roquefort cheese...), which opens the festivities early in the morning. The other highlight of the event is the parade of sheep in the streets of the city. A joyful hullabaloo to the sound of the bandas.
