MAISON FORTE DE CAPCHICOT
Logis to visit in Allons, a former hunting lodge of King Henry of Navarre, a site steeped in history.
Now privately owned, this dwelling retains few vestiges of its 16th-century origins. Formerly a hunting lodge for King Henri de Navarre, Capchicot was later used as lodgings by Marshal de Praslin and Bassompierre, Colonel-General of the Swiss, during Louis XIII's 1620 campaign. In 1646, the Seigneur de Capchicot and his son were murdered by the son-in-law of the Seigneur d'Allons. Condé's army then used Capchicot as a hideout to ransom the area around Casteljaloux. The lords of Capchicot kept this dwelling until 1880.
