Museum dedicated to Pierre Soulages: over 1,700 paintings by this emblematic Rodez artist are on display and waiting to be discovered.
A low construction to better contemplate the landscape and some more imposing volumes; a dark red Corten steel cladding, inconstant with time; and inside, a succession of spaces, sometimes bright, sometimes darker. After years of debate and titanic building site, the Soulages museum has opened its doors and offers a fluid and coherent journey creating a privileged relationship with the works of Pierre Soulages. The painter, born in Rodez in 1919, donated 500 eclectic pieces to his home town. Temporary exhibitions in addition.
