SYNDICAT D’INITIATIVE
Preserved medieval village accessible via three fortified gates: Barrieyre, Théron and Neuve.
Set in the fertile Lot valley, Saint-Côme-d'Olt is an unspoilt medieval village. The town tower, formed by the ancient ramparts that have become the facades of the houses, is accessible via three fortified gates: Porte de la Barrieyre, Porte du Théron, and Porte Neuve. Typical lanes and alleyways lead to the village centre, where you'll find two important monuments: the church with its twisted bell tower and the château, the former 11th-century manor house of the Sires de Calmont. At the entrance to the village, Saint-Pierre de la Bouïsse, the village's first church built in pure Romanesque style, was accompanied by an infirmary dedicated to pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. Saint-Côme-d'Olt is located in the Midi-Pyrénées-Languedoc-Roussillon region, in the Aveyron département. The village has around 1,355 inhabitants and covers an area of 3,010 hectares. Its altitude varies from 365 metres at the foot of the church to 800 metres on the La Bastide d'Aubrac plateau.
