PENITENT CHAPEL
This 11th century church now houses a small museum dedicated to the art of Gothic carpentry and bell towers
Home to the Pénitents blancs until 1935, this 11th-century church now houses a small museum dedicated to the art of Gothic carpentry and twisted bell towers. The roof of the church itself is not without interest, as it is made in the Philibert style, in the shape of an inverted hull. Other examples of this style can be seen at Saint-Côme, on the same street as the chapel as you head back towards the village center. For many years, the Pénitents chapel was the village parish church, with the cemetery at its bedside, until the cemetery was moved in 1950.
