HOLY CONCH ABBEY
Abbey housing the relics of Saint Foy in Conques, a pilgrimage sanctuary on the road to Santiago de Compostela.
A pilgrimage sanctuary on the road to Santiago de Compostela. The foundation of this abbey dates back to the 8th century, with the hermit Dadon. Its prosperity is associated with the relics of Saint Foy, sheltered in Conques around 866. The abbey then became a major stage on the road to Compostela from Le Puy-en-Velay, the via Podensis. In 1873, the Premonstratensians of Saint-Michel de Frigolet responded to the call of the Bishop of Rodez and brought the sanctuary back to life.
