MUSEUM OF THE RURAL CART AND TRADITIONAL HANDICRAFTS
Museum presenting various carts, carriages and tools for the craft industry, presentation of the stages of construction of the wheels on the spot
The transport of the campaign, whether it be human or animal-driven - charroi meaning spoof or cart - is the theme of this museum installed in a church that was never consecrated. It was built in 1861 by fifteen volunteer villagers on the location of the castle's former chapel, following the destruction of the church of Saint-Fermín. This dissenting act never obtained the favour of the bishop of the place, and never had to celebrate the holy rites. Since 1978, various types of trucks and cars have been exposed here, as well as tools for crafts. In a very pedagogic way, the stages and techniques of the construction of wheels are discovered, admiring some specimens, as well as various themes: braking, suspension, gear, couplings. A small, fortune video room provides an explanatory approach to the different uses of charroi vehicles or tools, as well as to the history and manufacture of the wheel. For who is more interested in traditional arts and crafts, a video library from basketry to the mill is also available.
