LEZERT SWIFTS
Discover the medieval hammermill at Le Lézert, a renovated historical heritage and symbol of the crafts of yesteryear.
The Association des Martinets du Lézert invites you to discover this swiftness, a hydraulic forge from the 14th and 15th centuries for shaping copper and metals to make pots and pans. In the past, 13 swifts lined the Lézert, a river that once had many mills (paper, flour...). The Ramonde swift was abandoned around 1850, before being recently renovated by volunteers at the cost of thousands of hours of work. It is working again nowadays and its noise can be heard throughout the valley.
