MAIRIE D'AUCH
The Town Hall is a large building whose construction was initiated by the famous Intendant of Etigny and it shelters beautiful surprises. A magnificent Italian-style theatre hosts a variety of shows throughout the year. Upstairs is the famous Salle des Illustres, on the walls of which are displayed the portraits of the people of Gersois who have marked the history of the department. These paintings are mainly the work of Gustave de Lassalle-Bordes, local artist and assistant to Delacroix, under Napoleon III. Auch, city of d'Artagnan, has developed its status as a cultural city, with the most important festival in France dedicated to the current circus, CIRCa. The support structure for creation offers a performance space with a 480 m2 hall and a permanent tent, the Dôme de Gascogne. Dynamic and committed to a modernization project, Auch's city centre is being transformed with major works, including the renovation of the cathedral square and the museum. The most beautiful example of this momentum is the rehabilitation of the monumental staircase, a major project that highlights the historic centre with a timeless aestheticism.
