TOUR D'ARMAGNAC
The impressive tower, over 40 m high, houses the cathedral's archives and is now home to its treasure museum.
At the corner of Salinis Square and the Cathedral, it is impossible to miss this impressive tower of more than 40 meters high, which today houses the Cathedral Treasury Museum. It was erected in the 14th century at the instigation of the archbishop who needed a prison. Under the Ancien Régime, it became the repository of the cathedral's archives. But from 1792, it regained its original functions. During the Terror, the convicts were imprisoned there and during the coup d'état of December 1851, the opponents to the establishment of the Second Empire were locked up.
