NATAÏS POPCORN
Michael Ehmann grew up in Germany, but it was in the Gers that he chose to shatter his ambitions. In 1989, this land lover, back from a trip to the United States, sowed on his parents' family farm in Bézéril, the two kilos of popcorn seeds he had brought back in his suitcases. Thirty years later, his company, called Nataïs, is the leading producer of popcorn in Europe! A crowning achievement acquired after many years of experimentation and variety trials to develop a seed adapted to the climatic and agronomic specificities of the territory.
Although the company started growing complementary crops in Portugal and South Africa in the early 2010's, it continues to focus on its network of nearly 250 local producers, with whom it shares a rigorous ethic. These corn farmers benefit from Nataïs' expertise in crop management and development, to preserve soil and biodiversity, limit water consumption and the use of chemical inputs. All this, of course, without GMOs.
Thanks to three 100% automated production lines for microwaveable popcorn and two lines dedicated to bulk, Nataïs is of interest to both supermarkets and film professionals. The company produces more than 160 million bags each year and generates 90% of its turnover abroad.
