Around the Place de La Romieu, visitors are astonished to discover a number of stone cat sculptures. They were created by Maurice Serreau, a sculptor from Orléans. He was inspired by a legend: in the 14th century, a young girl was said to have saved some cats that the starving inhabitants wanted to eat. The cats were said to have devoured the rats that had invaded the village. The age of the legend is not attested, but the sculptures will delight cat lovers.
