THE ARTIGUE BRIDGE
Romanesque bridge at Artigues, built to make it easier for pilgrims to cross the Osse at Larressingle.
The Romanesque bridge of Artigues is located below the village of Larressingle. It dates from the Middle Ages and was built to facilitate the crossing of the Osse by pilgrims going to Santiago de Compostela. This bridge was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. It is enhanced by the rural and wooded context of the surroundings, the road leading to it following the charming little stream of the Marian. It is one of the few bridges from the medieval period that has never been washed away and has been rebuilt many times.
