GASCON CASTLE OF MANSENCÔME
Go there and contact
Built in the 175 th century on a promontory at m above sea level, in the heart of the village of Mansencôme, this castle allowed, in the Middle Ages, to monitor the valleys of Baïse and Osse. Its architecture is typical of gascons castles: a large body of rectangular two-storey accommodation and two square towers of diametrically opposite angles and different sizes. For 400 years, he was the property of the family of Lasséran who also owned the surrounding lands and the entire village. But it is assumed that the castle had no residential vocation but was used only to host a garrison. It is in 1736 that he is sold to the Maniban who restore him. A century later the castle is sold to a farmer again. Today the castle seems abandoned. You can't visit it but a simple walk in the village is enough to discover its particular architecture, its two towers and its fenêtres windows. A beautiful discovery in the heart of the countryside.
