ÉGLISE SAINT-PARDULPHE
Church located in a harmonious green setting which has preserved a beautiful four arched entrance portal from the 14th century
Set back from the village, the Saint-Pardon, Pardoux or Pardulphe church is located in a harmonious green setting from which emerges its five-bell bell tower-wall. Who was this Pardulphe? In the 7th century, the Count of Limoges persuaded the monk Pardulphe, until then a hermit renowned for his powers as a miracle worker, to become abbot of an abbey around which a village was built (the site later gave birth to Guéret). The church of Saint-Pardulphe de Pompiac was that of an 11th century priory which was under the authority of the abbey and then the bishopric of Lombez. It has preserved a beautiful four-arched entrance portal from the 14th century, but was also extensively remodelled in the 19th century. To be noticed outside, the ancient tombs found near the church.
