These fortifications, built in the century, were lowered as a result of several historical events
These fortifications, built in the 14th century, were lowered during several historical episodes, notably during the Wars of Religion, the Fronde and in 1622 by order of King Louis XIII. In 1635, they were raised to 4.33 m. In 1808, the town council decided that "the town walls, which have been useless for centuries, should be demolished and sold" Today, some of the remains of these fortifications can still be seen, notably the small Porte de l'Avancette (boulevard Victor Hugo), which has been restored by the town council.
