Church with an interior that houses many 18th century decorative elements and a beautiful entrance door dated 1753
Since the Middle Ages, several churches have succeeded one another on the same site. The present building saw its bell tower-wall collapse after the 1914-18 war. First replaced by a small wooden aedicula, it was completely restored. The interior of the church houses many decorative elements from the 18th century and a beautiful entrance door dated 1753. The modern panelled ceiling of the nave had to replace a painted ceiling like the one in the church of Laymont. Before the choir, two side chapels open to the north and south through a curved arcade. The north chapel, illuminated by a stained glass window representing the Holy Family, has an altar from the Restoration period surmounted by a statue of the Virgin and Child. The southern chapel, artistically more interesting, houses a wooden altar "tomb" painted in faux marble, surmounted by an altarpiece decorated with a painting depicting the torture of Saint Agatha chained to a column in her prison. Sainte-Agathe was once celebrated with solemnity at Saint-Soulan on February 5. A stained glass window dated 1951 representing Sainte-Thérèse de l'enfant Jésus illuminates this chapel. In addition, a statue of the saint is located at the end of the nave near the baptismal font. As for the choir, with cut sections, it has on the wall behind the white marble altar, dating from 1897, a large painting representing the Crucifixion framed by two religious trophies in carved and gilded plaster evoking the Eucharist. Finally, the sacristy houses a beautiful chasublier.
