ÉGLISE SAINT-JEAN-BAPTISTE
In the Middle Ages, Samatan had 5 churches, 1 chapel and 3 convents. Built in 1890, the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste is decorated with 28 statues of saints. It keeps a relic of Saint Appolonie: tooth of the saint set in a silver needle and which has the power to facilitate the piercing of teeth in babies. This church has 3 naves and an octagonal pulpit listed since 1951, finished with a gilded wooden acanthus leaf base. Its wrought iron railing is signed by the famous blacksmith Jean-Pierre Bertin. In the Louis XVI style, it has 4 panels of embossed sheet metal representing the 4 evangelists. The organs, also listed, restored in 2015, are complementary in their repertoire to those of Lombez Cathedral.
