PALEOSITE AND SANSAN PALEONTOLOGICAL TRAIL
A trail that takes you back to the Middle Miocene, highlighting flora and fauna dating back millions of years.
This 3 km trail (allow 2 hours for a discovery) takes you on the tracks of this Gers lawyer who discovered, in 1834, a first-rate paleontological deposit that revolutionized scientific theories and brought to light the fauna and flora of the middle Miocene (-16.5 to -14 million years). The Sansan Paleosite, owned by the National Museum of Natural History in Paris, was designed with the support of scientists from the MNHN in Paris and Toulouse.
