CHURCH OF SAINT JOHN THE GREAT
A nave lit by dazzling stained-glass windows, preserving the architectural charm of yesteryear, and a timber frame
Built in the 14th century, the church of Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur has lost its original appearance. The cubic bell tower replaced the wall bell tower in the 19th century after a devastating fire. Every effort was made to preserve the architectural charm of the past during the renovation. Inside, the wooden frame is visible and reminds us of the overturned hull of a boat. The warmth of the wood makes the building welcoming, and the nave is lit by dazzling stained glass windows.
