SENTIER BOTANIQUE
A pleasant signposted path, featuring a wide variety of local flora and laid out below the southern ramparts of Valence.
This path was laid out below the city's southern ramparts, in the midst of the terraced gardens. Once cultivated, the area had over the years taken on the appearance of a vast overgrown lawn, with a few plants escaping from neighbouring gardens. Landscaped by the Office National des Forêts, the garden now boasts many local species: fig trees, opuntias, laurels, laurentines and dwarf palms. New arboricultural species have been added to enhance the educational character of the site: ginkgo biloba, corm tree and ash tree.
