VIELLA CASTLE
Château de Viella with a basement converted into a wine cellar and a park called "Aure gardens" to be visited for free to admire the view
The history of the sites began several centuries ago. Rebuilt in 1763 by Jacob Joachim, Marquis de Viella, the housing, at the base probably rather modest, has evolved with high slate roofs, beautiful vaults on the ground floor and large rooms on the floors. In the absence of this master, he was a woman, Thérèse-Louise-Charlotte-Monique d'Simonm, who managed the castle, in state. Sold at his death, the building then underwent different assignments. It was finally in 2003 that Alain Bortolussi (whose family has been owner since 1952) launched the ambitious challenge of restoring him life. To save this building to the representative architecture of the region, he calls on a company specializing in the rehabilitation of historic monuments. The basement is thus located in the cellar. The rooms on the first floor are intended for organising receptions around the wine. The park, called the "gardens of Simonm" can be visited free of charge, giving the opportunity for a small walk between the vineyards, the pergola, admiring the view and even a picnic!
