History. The Dardenne chocolate factory was created in 1897 by Ludovic Dardenne, a pharmacist-chocolate maker. At the end of the 1800s, he sold spices including cocoa. Enchanted by this delicious beverage, he became passionate about what we will call chocolate and became a true creator of excellence.
Ludovic Dardenne was a student and then collaborator of Paul Sabatier, a famous chemist, who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1912.
The two scientists found it abnormal that a beverage as smooth and pleasant as chocolate is not tolerated by everyone because of undesirable side effects: digestion problems, assimilation, vomiting, headaches, etc. They then prepared a delicious chocolate with a unique taste but without any adverse effects. Dardenne Patent Chocolate was born... in 1910. This range of chocolates is still manufactured, you will find it under the name "Fabrication Sous Patvet".
Since then, the range of chocolates has grown to include around a hundred references across four ranges.
The products. Tablets, chocolate powder, spreads, confectionery.
Employment. About twenty employees.
