ALG & YOU
In 2013, they should not be thousands, convinced, like them, by the flavours and virtues of fresh spirulina. However, along the way, Georges Garcia, Pierre Mollo, Cyril Durand and Alexandre Besson rallied people to their cause. So much so that the associative project that brought them together at the beginning became a real company, whose ambition remained intact: "to make spirulina a food for all". Today, Alg & You markets "Bloom", a system that allows you to grow micro-algae at home. "Bloom" is in the form of a tank, which exists in different volumes, to be filled with water, before adding the nutrients necessary for the growth of the algae, then the spirulina strain. Seven days later, the crops are ready to be harvested, cooked and eaten. And so on for six months thanks to the "starter" kit provided by the company. If "Bloom" is apparently playful, its design responds above all to societal challenges: inventing tomorrow's food when there are 800 million malnourished people in the world. Rich in vegetable proteins and amino acids, spirulina is also fifty times less energy or water consuming than the production of a beef.
