Created in the early 1970s in Blagnac, Airbus is the main competitor of the American aeronautical and aerospace manufacturer Boeing. The history of this jewel of aeronautics in Occitania is characterized by the development of several aircraft, from the shortest to the longest flight (from 100 to 600 seats), including the A380, a very large long-haul, long-haul, four-engine, double-deck civil aircraft officially launched on the market in 2007. The group designs, sells, manufactures and provides after-sales service for its fleet of aircraft, which is considered to be the most modern and complete in the sector. An Airbus aircraft takes off - or lands - every two seconds at airports around the world. In 2017, the group achieved a turnover of 66.8 billion euros, with a workforce of approximately 129,000 people. It is also the European leader in the field of mission, air-to-air refuelling, combat and transport aircraft and a leader in the space industry.
