Musée des Arts et Traditions Populaires (Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions), located in the heart of the fortified village, features wooden cake molds.
Right in the heart of the fortified village (Staedel), the Museum presents cake molds that have traveled through the ages. These wooden molds, made between the 16th and 20th centuries, were used to imprint the dough of small Christmas cakes, known in Alsatian as "Springerle": "little jumpers", before baking. The decorative themes evoke the heart and love, professions, realistic or mythical animals, scenes from the Bible, elegant outfits or uniforms...
