VIC LOCK
Single chamber lock with an oval basin, like the other locks of the Canal at Castanet-Tolosan
A few minutes south of Toulouse, on the Canal du Midi, the Vic lock is a very relaxing place. A single chamber lock, it was built in 1670 and is one of the sixty-three locks that punctuate the passage of barges from the port of l'Embouchure to the Etang de Thau. Its oval lock chamber is characteristic of the Canal du Midi, only the locks crossing Toulouse being rectangular. It is the ideal starting point for strolls along the water, on foot or by bicycle. Shaded and very pleasant walk.
