Castle built in the century, the ruins located at the top of the Schlossberg mountain, with a pagan wall from the Gallo-Roman period
The ruins of the Frankenbourg castle are located at the top of the Schlossberg mountain. Although it was built in the5th century by Clovis, human traces on this site are much older: there is a "pagan wall" dating from the Gallo-Roman period. The etymology of Frankenbourg means "castle of the Franks" and the first mentions about it date from the 12th century. The castle was rebuilt several times and modified until the 15th century. Beautiful remains have been preserved, such as the base of its keep and some of its buildings.
