ÉCLUSE DE NÉGRA
The lock which was one of the stops of the Barque de Poste which assured travelers between Toulouse and Agde from 1681
A historical monument, this lock at 33 km from Toulouse was one of the stops of the Barque de Poste which ensured the transport of travelers between Toulouse and Agde from 1681. Leaving Toulouse, the boats arrived at the lock for lunch (the diner). Nearby, travelers could find an inn, an ice house for cooling drinks and a chapel that can still be visited. You can also admire a modest bridge-canal that lets the Thésauque river flow here under the Canal du Midi. Picnic tables are available.
