SAINT GERMANY'S BASILICA OF PIBRAC
Strange church with a Romanesque-Byzantine dome in Pibrac, making a pilgrimage every year on June 15
A strange Romanesque-Byzantine domed church stands out against the skyline of the small town of Pibrac. It is the basilica of Sainte-Germaine, built in honor of a young shepherdess who was the object of abuse and numerous miracles during her lifetime and after her death in 1601. Construction by architect Pierre Esquié began in 1901 and was completed in 1967, to mark the centenary of the saint's canonization. An annual pilgrimage takes place on June 15.
