VNF : DIRECTION TERRITORIALE SUD-OUEST
The South-West territorial direction is one of the seven of the Voies navigables de France. It manages the Canal des Deux Mers, the Canal du Midi, the Canal de la Garonne, the junction and Robine canals, their water supply network, the river sections of the Garonne, as well as the sections of the Aude and Hérault. Its territorial coverage is very extensive, since it covers two regions, seven departments and 263 municipalities, known as "wet", over nearly 500 km, 240 of which are for the Canal du Midi alone. The Southwest territorial department is responsible for the maintenance, operation, management and enhancement of all this heritage, including 1,000 km of riverbanks, 400 engineering structures including two reservoir dams (Saint-Ferréol and Lampy), seven major canal bridges and 145 locks.
The management of the Dordogne is being tested by the public institution Epidor.
The Baïse, Lot and Garonne rivers between Saint-Léger and Nicole are managed by the general councils of the departments crossed.
