A place of memory in Toulouse, with an atypical architecture impregnated with utopia, with interactive terminals and exhibitions

A place of memory and interpretation, Le Castelet retraces 150 years of a very special history: that of the former Saint-Michel prison. Although the prison itself cannot be visited, the castle-like entrance pavilion - or castelet - explains its often painful past. Life stories, daily prison life, the Resistance (Marcel Langer...), the Liberation in 1944: interactive terminals and exhibits tell the story of those who passed through these walls. This monumental complex, exceptional for its atypical utopian architecture, was designed by architect Jacques-Jean Esquié in the late 19th century. Guided tours regularly scheduled.

Édifice bien rénové et mis en avant grâce aux 7 salles d'exposition qui retracent l'histoure du lieu. Dommage que l'on ne puisse pas avour accès à l'ancienne prison, ne serait ce qu'une aile sur les 5. Personnel très sympathique. A visiter sans souci.

Très déçu du peu d'espace à visiter. Nous espérions voir les cellules, les couloirs, les cours intérieur, les cuisines, enfin une vraie prison.
